Chapter 150: Restart Cultivation
「Ah, it’s so relaxing to be back to farming after so long. 」
A day passed since I returned home. I rested slowly in my room, trying to recover from the fatigue of my journey.
In the morning, when I got out of bed, Fitis had snuck in as usual, so I quickly chased her out of the room. But that kind of thing was commonplace when I lived here before, so it felt nostalgic.
When I left my room, Fitis had prepared a meal and set it on the table in the dining room.
All the dishes were made with monsters harvested from my field, and just as I was about to eat, Luna appeared from another room.
「…Good morning. 」
She seemed to be not very good at waking up, rubbing her eyes sleepily as she sat down.
Since then, Luna had also been staying at my house.
This was a natural conclusion since she had amnesia and nowhere else to go.
Luckily, my new house was a large two-story building with plenty of unused rooms, so it was perfectly fine for several people to stay over.
By the way, I parted ways with Lily yesterday evening, and she headed to the inn she usually uses in this town.
After we all had breakfast, I went out into the garden for the first time in a while to check on the monsters I was cultivating there.
「Oh, they seem to be doing well as usual. 」
In one corner of the garden, the Devil Carrots were running around, and in another corner, the Cockatrices were basking in the sun together.
In yet another area, the Hydra I raised earlier was moving around with a Bahamut on its head…it was more like a monster theme park than a farm.
Currently, I had a sufficient quantity of monsters being cultivated. To sustain a normal life, the current amount should be enough.
However, since I had gone to the trouble of cultivating various monsters in the desert and established new cultivation methods, it wouldn’t be a bad idea to cultivate those new monster species here as well.
Above all, if creating new monsters contributed to the world and, as a result, accelerated the world’s evolution, then there was no reason not to do it.
Thinking about this, I immediately checked the seeds and types of monsters I had stored in the warehouse.
「I have Ent seeds, too. Come to think of it, I got some seeds from an Ent when I saw it before. 」
I had been helped a lot by the Ents who lived deep in the forest just next door.
I also had various monster seeds and eggs given to me by an Ogre.
And I had desert monster seeds given to me by Shin. There were also eggs of various monsters, such as Basilisks and Desert Dragons.
I wondered if I should just create a monster like a legendary Pokémon…
If I was going to do this anyway, I couldn’t help but fantasize about creating such an extraordinary monster.
It would be interesting if, hundreds of years from now, the monsters I created became legends, and people and adventurers sought them out.
Well, I’d keep that to myself for now and just try cultivating a new monster.
I picked up an Ent seed after having those thoughts.
「First, imagination is important. As my father said, the most important thing is to cultivate it with the conviction that I can do it. 」
I wasn’t some kind of projectionist, but I always imagined myself at my strongest.
Perhaps it was something close to that; by cultivating it with the conviction that I could do it, the monster would be born.
My skill was originally a creation skill possessed by gods, capable of creating life.
That was why it was crucial to believe that nothing was impossible.
Previously, I made it possible for a Cockatrice to be born from a tree.
If I could create a cycle where monsters were born from a single tree like that, we’d be able to harvest monsters regularly, and this world’s food problem would be largely solved.
It would eliminate the need to hunt monsters using adventurers, and livestock farming would become possible in a safe location.
「Wait a minute…Wouldn’t it be easier if there were monsters that produced “food”? 」
That idea struck me.
For example, what if there were monsters that made chocolate grow from the tips of branches?
Then, there would be no need to obtain the ingredients for making chocolate from monsters.
Or, even better, what about monsters that made cabbage or other Earth vegetables grow?
It might seem like a ridiculous idea at first glance, but my father originally possessed the ability to produce such vegetables.
That was because my father had the skill to transform monsters into vegetables in this world.
And I inherited that skill from my father, and through its evolution, I gained the skill to freely create monsters.
Therefore, it wouldn’t be surprising if I also possessed the ability to transform monsters into vegetables, just like my father.
My dad had pointed this out to me before, warning me that “simply transforming monsters into vegetables makes you no different to me”.
As a result of that advice, I was able to create new monsters by combining different types of monsters through hybrid cultivation.
And now, with my current abilities, couldn’t I give monsters the ability to produce vegetables through hybrid cultivation?
If so, I could use my dad’s abilities to go even further.
Monsters were sentient beings, so if they could freely produce cabbage, edamame, eggplants, and bell peppers on their branches, wouldn’t that create a new concept of agriculture in this world?
Yes. I might be able to do it.
Thinking about this, I immediately took some Ent seeds and buried them in separate places along with the chocolate I had stored in the warehouse and the vegetables my dad had given me before.
It wasn’t about whether I could or couldn’t do it. The important thing was to try. Most importantly, it was crucial that I, the one cultivating them, believe it was possible.
And if this could be achieved, then it would bring about another significant change in monster cultivation. I was excited about the new possibilities of cultivating monsters. As I watered and nourished the Ent seeds I had planted, I eagerly awaited for the results.
