It Is a Different World and Yet I Am Cultivating Monsters – Volume 3 – Chapter 144

Chapter 144: Ishtar Ruins

「We’ve walked quite a distance through the desert, so let’s take a break now. 」

「Yeah, let’s rest here for a bit. 」

I nodded in response to Lily’s suggestion and immediately decided to rest in the shade of a nearby rock.

Kobuda and the others had been running non-stop, so they deserved a little rest too.

I suddenly noticed a shadow on the horizon as I was thinking about this and drinking water from my canteen.

「That’s… 」

It was the ruins of the Ishtar civilization that Alisha had explained to me when we passed through this area before.

At that time, I felt an inexplicable chill, and my heart was filled with unease.

But at the same time, a lingering unease remained deep within my heart.

And it seemed that Rock, who had sensed something along with me at that time, felt the same way, clinging to my arm and gazing at the shadow of the ruins on the horizon.

「Kyou, what’s wrong? 」

Noticing something was amiss between me and Rock, Lily, who was beside me, turned her gaze to the ruins on the horizon.

「Is that…? 」

「It’s the ruins of the Ishtar civilization, apparently. Alisha explained to me. 」

「Oh, so that’s the place. 」

Lily nodded with interest after hearing the name.

Well, she was an adventurer, or rather, a hero, so I supposed she was interested in ancient civilization ruins like that.

「So, why are you staring at it? 」

「Well…I’m just curious. 」

「Curious? 」

Lily brought it up, apparently intrigued by my statement.

But how should I explain it? Honestly, I wasn’t confident I could put it into words properly.

That’s because it felt somewhat instinctive, like an intuition.

I felt there was something terrifying there, and at the same time, something I couldn’t ignore.

Whether it was a good omen or a bad omen…I actually didn’t know.

But at the very least, I couldn’t ignore it forever. Rather, I had a feeling it would inevitably reappear in some form.

I tried to explain this feeling to Lily, but it seemed I didn’t quite get it, as she tilted her head in confusion.

「Hmm, I don’t really understand, but if you’re so curious, why don’t we go there and see? 」

「Ah, but… 」

It might be dangerous. Lily raised her index finger before I could utter those words.

「There’s no need to be shy. Who do you think I am? When it comes to combat, I’m a beast hero, unrivaled. 」

Indeed, Lily’s abilities were undeniable. She was undoubtedly among the top class of the Seven Great Heroes I knew.

「Besides, we have a decent force now, so if you’re curious, we should go there and see. 」

Everyone around us seemed to agree with Lily’s words. Fitis and Jack were nodding.

「There’s no need to hold back, Lord Kyou. We’ll go wherever you go. 」

「Right. If you’re curious, then we’ll go with you. 」

「…Yeah. It’s better to get it sorted out than to keep feeling uneasy like this. 」

Taking everyone’s words into consideration, I shifted my gaze back to the ruins on the horizon and declared.

「Then, let’s go. To the ruins of the Ishtar civilization. 」
