Chapter 197: On Time (1)

Dust was flying all around. Seiya used all his might to launch the Atomic Split Slash, shattering the marble floor and forcing us downstairs.

「Ugh…」

I groaned as I managed to stand up. My back and legs hurt from the impact of the fall. Of course, since gods didn’t die, I knew it wasn’t a serious injury.

Anyway, I went to make sure Seiya was safe. However, the first person I saw was Celseus.

「Ouch, ouch, ouch…」

Celseus was rubbing his back, and then he looked around the rubble and suddenly muttered, 「Huh. Where am I? 」 as if he had just realized something.

Come to think of it, the place looked quite familiar. Food and cooking utensils were scattered everywhere. Although it was a mess due to the ceiling’s collapse, it was the large kitchen on the first floor that we had scouted the other day. It was apparently below the round table room. The whole place had been cleared of everyone who worked here, so it was a blessing that there was no one here.

I found Seiya on the other side of the rubble, holding Egzation in one arm.

「Don’t come. 」

Seiya noticed me approaching him and said those words, looking straight ahead. I gasped when I saw where Seiya was looking at.

Leon, who should’ve been hit by the bullet, was standing up with a relaxed smile on his face! Celseus screamed in frustration.

「Damn it! Seiya’s attack didn’t hit him, directly! 」

「You’re kidding me! Don’t tell me that he dodged the Atomic Split Slash without activating Volt Prediction!? 」

「…Battle is all about deception. 」

Leon spoke as he spat blood onto the kitchen floor.

「I had some backup power left, just like him. 」

「No…No way! 」

I screamed. The magic bullets didn’t explode inside his body, but there was no doubt that those two bullets had put Leon in a difficult position. However, just as Seiya had saved enough power to fire off the Atomic Split Slash, Leon had made the damage appear greater than it actually was.

…All in order to deceive Seiya and us and take advantage of an opening!

Leon opened his right hand. I saw two magic bullets, covered in scorched blood, falling from his hand and rolling across the kitchen floor.

「I don’t know how you did it. But both these magic bullets you used against me missed my vital points. You’re such a kind goddess. 」

「What…! 」

Ehhhhh!? Did I miss his vital points unconsciously!? No, no, no, I should’ve aimed for his vital points!! No matter how much I had that goddess’ trait!!

As I was irritated by my own characteristic as a goddess, Leon skillfully placed the Electro Blade on his shoulder.

「Still, it was my luck that I dodged that sword. And it was also his luck that I missed. 」

Seiya, who was facing Leon, suddenly lost his balance. He used Egzation as a walking stick and fell to one knee.

「Seiya!? Are you hurt!? 」

「Just a little bit from the impact of the fall. 」

Seiya said it coolly, but I couldn’t help but worry. Even though he had some strength left, he had lost his right hand, and his left leg was also injured. His stomach was also hurt by Leon’s blow. It was an undeniable fact that Seiya had received severe damage from Leon. That’s why he couldn’t take a proper defensive position when the floor’s collapse occurred.

…I wanted to heal him quickly! But!

Seiya told me not to come. Now that Leon was in a fighting stance, I would be a hindrance if I went there. Seeing that I couldn’t move, Leon snorted, “Hmph”.

After activating his Attack Prediction skill again, Leon approached Seiya, who was crouching and breathing heavily.

I trembled as the nightmare had returned.

…I thought we had won!! This scenario wasn’t the situation I had hoped for!!

「Wha…What’s wrong with that guy? He’s too strong! 」

Seeing Leon fighting Seiya on an equal footing, Celseus shouted with an impatient voice. I swallowed hard too. His wild instincts even allowed him to predict attacks! He even possessed heavenly luck!

「So this is the reincarnation of the Beast Emperor Grand Leon…! 」

I gazed upon Leon in awe after realizing that Seiya had repeatedly called him a difficult opponent. Leon was clearly damaged as well. However, the wounds of the man facing him were surely even worse.

「Se…Seiya…! 」

I muttered Seiya’s name unable to contain myself. I had an indescribable bad feeling. When Seiya missed his Atomic Split Slash, the two of them seemed to switch positions. Leon had been talking about luck earlier, but I realized that he wasn’t joking around, since luck that we need to win was heavily in Leon’s favor.
