A Wish To Grab Happiness – Volume 16 – Chapter 484

Chapter 484: Three Magical Devilish Beings

The dark scarlet sword wailed, splitting the air in two. A powerful strike that left no time for those around to catch their breath.

Leaving all eyes behind, Caria raced forward and swung her great sword down from the sky.

The iron hammer of the giant could be described as violent. The sound shattered, and the world creaked.

All that was reflected in Caria’s silver eyes was the Gear Rabel.

Caria had no way of knowing what happened to Lugis. But something bad happened, and that was what made him become like that. The thick blood flowing inside her body told her so.

And so, the culprit was just one person. There was no room for doubt. The giant’s verdict was made in less than a second.

In other words, the Gear Rabel was worthy of destruction without hesitation.

Facing the raised dark scarlet sword, Rabel looked up at it with her arms spread out. There was a scar on her shoulder after looking closely. Why wasn’t she resisting? No, she was unable to. But why didn’t she try to avoid the strike?

It was as if she understood that there was no need for that.

But Caria didn’t care about any particular intentions. She just wanted to destroy Rabel.

Her violent power was unleashed. It approached Rabel’s body as if it was being sucked in.

…And then, it was blocked by the threat of purple lightning. The violent power and that threat clashed, causing a thunderous sound that echoed all around.

Caria’s widened pupils caught sight of Lugis stepping between her and the magical devilish being. Her heart bounced. She had no time to ask why.

The sinisterly altered treasure sword pulsated with purple lightning, entangling the dark scarlet sword. It wasn’t just pure physical strength. It was a foreign object that contained a demonic power.

Otherwise, there was no way it could have withstood a blow from the giant Caria.

The sinister purple blade and the scarlet sword split the air several times. With each strike, the line of death passed through Caria’s field of vision, and all traces of life receded.

After one strike, then another, Caria swept the tip of her sword and forcibly cut off the treasure sword attack. She turned her wrist and readied the scarlet sword as she heard the distinctive reverberation.

There, before her eyes, was Lugis. He was standing as if he was protecting Rabel.

…Yes, he was protecting that magical devilish being. A strong heat assaulted Caria’s heart. Her breath felt as if it was melting her lips.

She wanted someone to explain what this meant.

Caria’s expression was greatly distorted as the taste of bitterness and humiliation seeped into her mouth. Wrinkles showed between her eyebrows, and her silver eyes were piercing Lugis’ figure. She opened her mouth, even though she didn’t expect a reply.

「Lugis, you bastard. This is the result of going out on your own without me. I won’t accept your excuses. 」

Caria’s words sounded like all her passion had spilled out like mud. She no longer wanted to see even a trace of Lugis standing next to Rabel.

Just seeing him made her heart burn. It was as if a muddy stream was rising from inside her viscera.

On the other hand, Lugis, who was facing Caria, even had a smile on his face. Then, he showed his teeth as if he didn’t know what was going on in Caria’s mind. He raised his sword in one hand and said the following words.

「…Who cares, woman? Why should I care about you? 」

Caria raised her eyelashes unknowingly. Her mind was confused for a moment.

What on earth had he called her? Caria knew it was just words, but her brain refused to accept them. It took her a few seconds to process them in her brain.

Or rather, who spoke those words in the first place?

Caria looked at Lugis again. She could feel her vision beginning to crumble.

The emotions lurking in the depths of Lugis’ eyes, his words, and his actions. The atmosphere was completely different. Caria couldn’t even recognize him.

Of course, Caria knew that Lugis had been entangled by a magical devilish being. She had heard rumors that some people were bewitched by demons and temporarily lost their sanity and reason.

But Lugis’ current appearance was different. It was as if another personality had entered his body.

Leaving Caria confused, Lugis lightly placed the treasure sword on his shoulder and spoke.

「What’s with that strange look on your face? You’re going to kill me, aren’t you? So you must be my enemy. 」

Lugis, a magical devilish being, took a step forward. The surrounding demons and soldiers alike. No one except Rabel could understand what was going on.

But there was one thing that everyone understood.

That man was too demonic.

Lugis showed his teeth and laughed fearlessly. He looked amused. It was an expression Lugis had never shown before. The aura he emanated melted the air with each step.

「I don’t know who you are or where you’re from, but I’ll kill you with all my might even if you’re just a little girl. 」

And with that, Lugis took another step. The distance that had been opened once was closing again.

But Caria didn’t respond and simply lowered the tip of her sword. Normally, she should’ve taken her sword and attacked the enemy. She should’ve closed the distance in one breath in order to strike the enemy.

She knew that. Ah, but it was impossible.

Caria thought so. After all, her hands had no strength at all, and it looked like the dark scarlet sword would break apart. No, it wouldn’t be strange if she collapsed.

Caria noticed the corners of her eyes moistening. No matter how much she tried to hold it in, she just couldn’t hide her tears anymore. It was no use. It really was no use.

What did he just say? What did he say to her face?

Caria knew that Lugis wasn’t the same person now. But even so, there was no doubt that with that voice, and that soul, he said that he didn’t know anything about her.

The core within Caria’s chest creaked. Her vision began to blur, and she couldn’t even tell if she was standing or lying down.

She had no idea that her body and mind had become so weak. She stood at her limit no matter how much she tried to motivate herself or whip herself to move.

Lugis’ face twisted in suspicion, but he didn’t stop walking. Lugis approached Caria with the sword still on his shoulder.

It was the same as facing death. Caria could no longer resist. Lugis had no intention of stopping either.

「…La…Lady Caria! 」

It was the white-haired girl who moved. Leu looked like she was having difficulty moving, but charged forward anyways, and forcibly pushed Caria aside.

It was a sudden action, with no thought given to defensive measures. So Caria was pushed away while still clutching on the dark scarlet sword, and Leu tumbled to the ground.

And she saw the blade as she finished rolling on the ground. Lugis’ blade that was about to be swung down in order to kill suddenly stopped.

「Hey. You put your life on the line. 」

「…Lord Lugis. 」

「You should pay a little more attention to your wellbeing because I’m about to kill you…」

As expected, Lugis wouldn’t treat Leu as if she weren’t an acquaintance. He cared about her in the past before becoming this evil. Suddenly, Lugis looked up into the sky…and drew a line.

The purple lightning let out a hideous howl while cutting through the air. Several demonic birds died from that strike. It was very quickly, without even putting up any resistance.

Lugis didn’t even look at Caria or Leu but looked up at the being above. There was a demon with wings spread wide, leading a mass of demonic powers. He moved his beak as if to control the surrounding demonic birds, and then said the following words.

「So you’re the devil that manifested. I really don’t understand humans. 」

「I feel the same. I don’t understand what birds are thinking either. 」

A magical devilish being. The poisonous Junelva was there, flying in the air. He paid no attention to the crowd of humans, simply fixing his eyes on the newly but surely magical devilish being named Lugis.

Lugis was the same, looking up at the sky as if he no longer had any interest in humans, and exchanged several words with Junelva.

Here, all of the magical devilish beings who ruled the nation of the Bolvat Dynasty were on full display.

The enemies of mankind, in other words, the disasters that had once brought so many brave heroes to their deaths. There was no one left to stop them.
