Chapter 191: Fear (2)

Seiya’s furious attacks continued. I never knew what was going to happen in a battle, especially a battle like this one. I understood that very well. Still, Celseus and I gradually began to feel relieved. If Leon were to do something now, I think it would only cause Seiya a little trouble and nothing more.

「What’s wrong with him? It seemed like it was going to be an easy win from the start. Yet, that hero is being too cautious again. 」

Just as Celseus said, Seiya’s relentless attack ended abruptly. Seiya didn’t pursue the offensive strikes, but instead took a slight distance to observe Leon’s condition.

There was some smoke from Seiya’s attack around Leon’s body. I couldn’t see his status so I couldn’t tell how much damage he got, but to an outsider he looked absolutely injured. Maybe he deserved praise for somehow surviving Seiya’s attacks.

At this rate, I won’t have a chance to use my gun…Then, Leon sighed just as I was thinking about that. And then…to my surprise, the Electro Blade disappeared!

「Huh?! 」

「Wha…What? 」

Both Celseus and I looked at Leon with confused expressions. Leon put away his blade and was defenseless. However, Seiya was still on guard and didn’t move.

…We…Well, even I couldn’t attack in this situation! There must be a hidden plan!

Then, Leon spoke in a casual tone.

「That’s incredible. You managed to counter the mid-range attack of the Electro Bit, and even managed to corner me in close combat with the Electro Blade, which is the pinnacle of magical technology. Until now, there has never been anyone who could fight on an equal footing with me, who possesses the Thunder Beast Artema. 」

Leon laughed in a muffled voice, somewhat self-deprecatingly.

「You blocked the first slash of the Electro Blade. The fight should’ve been won then. 」

「Wha…What do you mean!? 」

I asked, yelling, and Leon continued speaking.

「You wouldn’t be able to block it with a normal sword. It would slip through, and I’d hit you directly. But…even if you blocked it with a similar type of magic blade, the lightning from my blade would travel up the enemy’s arm. You’d be carbonized in an instant. 」

「So, that means there was an electric shock, as Seiya was talking about!? 」

Seiya had anticipated this. The five-layered rubber gloves, which I thought were excessive, might had actually been useful.

Leon shifted his gaze from me to Seiya.

「Hey, you bastard. Do you know how I feel right now? 」

I heard him say that to Seiya, but I guessed it somehow.

…『My blood is boiling with the arrival of a worthy opponent. 』, or something like that…?

That was what I truly thought after considering the Grand Leon’s former personality. However, Seiya didn’t answer and instead kept a careful watch over Leon.

Leon spoke quietly.

「Fear…I fear you. 」

… “Fear”!? Leon felt fear!?

Those words were unexpected…no, I was sure even Seiya was surprised.

Leon’s whole body, which contained the Thunder Beast Artema, was mechanized, even around his head. His lion-shaped full-face helmet made it impossible to see Leon’s expression.

Even so, Leon’s voice was clearly trembling.
