A Wish To Grab Happiness – Volume 14 – Chapter 406

Chapter 406: Universal Control

A violet light ran through, showing a dark reddish color in its path. It was only a short moment where time seemed to stop.

A boundless savage sound came out of my throat as I swung my arms. The sensation of pain was no longer there, only one sensation remained.

The magical devilish being. Controller Drigman. His heart, the core of his very being…was something that connected him to his humanly form. That certainty was all he had in order to live.

A tremendous amount of blood stained the throne room. His heart exploded and its pieces fell on the ground, gushing blood in an unexpected way.

I widened my eyes. A different scene than before was unfolding before my eyes.

Drigman’s body no longer regenerated as before. He had immortality only when his feet touched the earth. The area, where his heart used to be, was now empty, as if it had been painted black.

My eyelids became numb. I opened my lips without realizing it yet. A heavy breath escaped between my teeth.

Its finished. I killed him here. One of the strong demonic beings that Helot Stanley had killed in the past had now been crushed.

Ah, finally. It was during this moment that I felt a mixture of relief and doubt in my heart.

「…Now I know it. I’ve felt it. 」

The voice that touched my ears sent a chill down my spine. The muscles that supported my entire body were emitting an unbearable shudder. If intuition existed in this world, then I certainly felt it.

I was going to die here. A clear, unavoidable, absolute death was approaching me.

It was abnormal. Ahead of my gaze, Drigman’s eyes were distorted as blood dripped down from his cheeks. It seemed like he could no longer avoid his death.

Even so, there was a frightening amount of evil in his expression. That was an amount of heat that no human being could match. Drigman’s lips moved in order to speak.

「You were small and insignificant, but now you are my true enemy…I’ll admit it, you are not livestock. You have become my enemy at this moment.」

「…Is that so? I didn’t mind when you let your guard down. 」

Maybe it was a reward for me to be acknowledged as his enemy, so I moved my lips instead of my still-looking body. A thrill licked my cheeks every time I professed a word.

I felt a strange pressure and my heart was pounding loudly. No matter how hard I tried to move my legs, they wouldn’t even twitch. The fact that I wasn’t lying on the ground seemed like a miracle.

Drigman used both of his arms to break the giant trees that pierced his body and put his feet on the ground. But his heart remained empty. What was lost in the sky never returned even if its feet reached the soil again. Therefore, he should definitely die here.

But Drigman was strangely quiet. He was neither furious nor upset. There was a wave of silence before he opened his hands.

「…Lugis. Honorable enemy. Let me pay my respects to you and show you my true essence. What does it mean to control distance? I shall show you my gaze, my authority, that once controlled the world. 」

The demonic being’s eyes pierced my body, making my blood run wild. A shudder rose in my throat. It opened something that shouldn’t have been opened. There was a strange certainty in my heart.

Ah, as expected. I was going to die here today.

Drigman realized that his death was very near. The body he was relying on lost its core. Therefore, he was going to fall into a long sleep again. He had no idea how much time it would take in order to wake up again. He could never open his eyes again.

That’s why he had to do something. There was a mission that he must accomplish first.

For a moment, Drigman narrowed his eyes at the man in front of him.

Although that man was no longer able to move, his vicious eyes still stared at this direction without weakening its will. Drigman tightened his lips, thinking that this was his true essence.

At first glance, this man looked rough and ferocious, like a beast. However, there was no way he could steal the magical devilish being’s heart with just that behavior.

This man was here despite the risks that could take his life. He was standing, sharpening his mind, doing all he could to his body, and transcending the impossible. Drigman had a good understanding of this after their two encounters.

It was a precious thing for both demonic beings and humans. Drigman thought that he wasn’t Altia’s follower after all. This wouldn’t happen if he was a descendant of that person.

That’s why Drigman decided that he had to kill this man. He was not livestock, but a threatening enemy. He had to kill him no matter what the cost.

He spread his demonic aura throughout his body and allowed the other demonic beings to be activated. A magical mechanism originally created for the Bastion Beast Zebrililith.

A miracle that spread illusions throughout the royal capital in order to create a divine precinct. Drigman incorporated all of the magical mechanisms he created for the purpose of a ritual to restore a part of the world that once existed.

He had to do that. Eliminating this threat and other humans would be for the sake of the whole world. That’s what Drigman believed.

The continuous supply of magical power extended Drigman’s life, allowing him to regain his essence once again. He showed his authority by invoking his Original Text.

「I give permission in my name as a magical devilish being. Banish the human beings from all over the earth. They are the enemy of all demonic beings.」

…Original Text “Universal Control”.

Originally, Drigman had no concept of distance. There’s no way that his essence was something that just closed the gap.

In the past, when he was the Controller of demonic beings, all that he envisioned was in his hands. His vision ran through the world, and there was nothing he couldn’t grasp.

This was his Original Text that he swore to never lose it again after losing his kindred and his homeland. His authority, which may seem cowardly at first glance, was his essence.

He wielded his arms. The power that once crushed everything in sight resided at his fingertips.

That power was wielded to wipe out all humans in this land. It was meant to shake the earth and cause it to collapse, awakening a world filled with miasma. This world was supposed to be denser than in the previous world, a place where demonic beings reigned and where humans couldn’t live.

Drigman’s Original Text made this possible. For him, everything he saw was his domain. Even if it was still incomplete, it would be easy to make the area around the royal capital his own territory to destroy it.

All in order to expand his territory and eat the world. Eventually, his lingering power would cover the entire world.

That source of power was Drigman’s Original Text. He decided that he needed it at this moment, and he prepared himself accordingly.

Humans had now become an enemy that couldn’t be underestimated. Therefore, Drigman wouldn’t choose any other means. Their beloved domestic animals were gone.

“…For the Bastion Beast Zebrililith, and for all demonic beings. This is where we drive a wedge into the human world.”

The moment Drigman made the decision in his heart, a roar resonated. There was a startling sound that made you think the canopy collapsed and the sky lowered down.

The throne room was no longer in a majestic color. The beautifully decorated ceiling was collapsing and leaving cracks.

Then, a rain of light poured down. A torrential downpour of heat rays that seemed almost divine wiped out everything in that area.

These heat rays were done by a woman with dyed red hair and sparkling white eyes. She spoke, while carrying a dark-eyed person by her side.

「Hundreds of years have passed, but things haven’t changed. Yes, you and me. That’s why I don’t want to talk to you. We don’t understand each other, and we can’t accept each other. I don’t know how you ended up here. But I just can’t tolerate it anymore. So, Drigman, let’s stop exchanging words, okay?」

…You must disappear right now. I’m benevolent, don’t you agree?

And so, Jewel Bar Agathos poured down a blessing of rain. She put her heart and soul into it, making sure not to leave anything behind.

The intertwining power of demonic aura and demonic light was like the return of a myth.
