A Wish To Grab Happiness – Volume 16 – Chapter 522

Chapter 522: Primordial Evil

Primordial Evil.

What was the first evil act committed in this world?

Was it gratuitous violence, malicious lies, or limitless plunder?

No, none of them had any merit. In other words, they were all merely derivative evils. After all, they were vulgar when measuring high or low levels of evilness.

First of all, wasn’t it a gross delusion to think that evil could be committed in a world created by a righteous God?

God was absolute, the entire world was within his grasp and was within his sight. Everything that happened there wasn’t hidden. Therefore, evil couldn’t happen. Even if evil did exist, God would surely eliminate it before it could occur.

So if undeniable evil were to occur…

…That would be the murder of an absolute God.

This was the oldest myth, no longer even preserved in written documents. Such myth said that evil was brought into the world because the first being killed the first God.

Only then was death granted to living things. Evil and justice were born right there.

Primordial evil was, in other words, the first act of murder. Killing someone.

The magical devilish being Lugis raised his Original Text around the neck of the Great Demon Vrilligant. The wind roared and cut across his cheeks, and the pressure of the air bound his body.

And it would be difficult to even stand straight with Vrilligant’s massive body swinging wildly. It would be no different from standing in the middle of a storm.

And yet, he remained there, calmly speaking, as if asking for the agreement of a comrade. Night fell, and darkness enveloped his cheeks.

「Don’t worry, Vrilligant. Everything has a beginning and an end. That’s true, isn’t it? Today is just that day…Your end. 」

Lugis snapped his wrist and gripped his demonic sword. There was nothing to stop him now. Vrilligant didn’t understand what was about to happen. But he knew that his enemy was there.

And it seemed to be a terrifying presence. Something was about to come. It must be avoided.

For Vrilligant, who had lived his life as a Great Demon, this was a brand new emotion. He hadn’t felt anything like it… even when he faced Altia.

The dragon’s roar shook the sky over the mountains, and storm-like gusts of wind were unleashed from its wings. Its behavior, which even altered nature, was truly that of a former god.

Lugis’ lips moved smoothly. It was too late for the dragon to unleash its violent power.

「Unlock the Original Text…I shall give you a lasting farewell, Vrilligant. You were great. But what I encountered was a corpse, killed by Altia. 」

The demonic sword, emitting a divine aurora, cut down the dragon’s massive body in one sweep.

It was an impossible swing. The sword, which only appeared to be aimed at its neck, undoubtedly pierced its entire body. And with that, Vrilligant’s wrath was also shattered.

A momentary pause occurred, as if time itself had stopped. The sky and the earth held their breaths, accepting the silence for just that moment.

And then, in the next moment, the gears that had been stopped began to move.

「…OhhhhOhhhhOhhhh! 」

It wasn’t a voice, not even a sound. Just a vibration that pulsated the air.

Vrilligant’s massive body was emitting a distortion never before felt. Next, a thunderous roar like a thunderbolt rang out, and the earth tilted.

And only then did the world understand what it meant.

For the first time, the immortal dragon known as Vrilligant was about to disappear from this world.

The death that was supposed to come on the day he lost his heart was about to begin here, after hundreds of years.

A voice that could neither be described as a sob nor a scream echoed throughout the air.

…But even so, Vrilligant didn’t stop.

He wasn’t driven by his pride as the greatest dragon, nor did he groan in pain.

He simply didn’t know. A dragon knew no death and no fear.

And so, the dragon wouldn’t stop brandishing its now-dead body, stealing and destroying. Until the final catastrophe came.

…And so, the destruction with the color of copper rained down on him.

Vrilligant’s eyes widened. His wings, which would normally react quickly, no longer listened to what he said. His throat no longer breathed fire, and his claws and fangs groaned.

Everything about the greatest dragon was heading towards death.

And so, he couldn’t dodge the great copper fireballs that threatened to devour him with a single fingertip. Annihilation beyond death was approaching.

…The bronze-looking dragon Shadraput had witnessed a miracle.

If this wasn’t going to be called a miracle, then miracles would cease to exist in this world.

That human, which had become a magical devilish being, had bestowed death upon Vrilligant, the deathless void. That human’s Original Text devoured the greatest dragon.

The impossible became possible. Perhaps that was the core of his Original Text.

The power to kill everything that had a beginning. Primordial evil.

Vrilligant’s unparalleled physique had met his death thanks to that Original Text, and the fact that his heart had been stolen meant that he was about to be destroyed.

A being so powerful that no one could kill… was killed with just one swing.

Shadraput felt a tingling sensation in her neck. Her teeth couldn’t fit together properly. She was deeply moved by having witnessed a miracle, and at the same time, a sense of horror hit her spine.

While the Original Texts were the manifestation of wishes, they weren’t omnipotent to the point of granting anything one desires. The soul was like a vessel in the face of a will.

If the will determined that something was impossible, then the Original Text would never make it happen.

In other words, those who believed they couldn’t fly wouldn’t be able to fly even with the Original Text, and those who believed they couldn’t fight wouldn’t be able to fight even with the Original Text.

But Lugis slayed an immortal dragon with the Original Text.

…This showed that he truly believed he could kill even a god.

Unconsciously, Shadraput’s spine stiffened. Her cheeks twisted. She was certain he could kill even Altia now. Shadraput was sure he would wield his demonic sword without hesitation if he faced Altia as her enemy.

Shadraput had known there was something strange about him. But she never thought it would be this fatal. Shadraput furrowed her brows and gritted her teeth.

But then she lifted her cheeks. Lugis was of no concern right now. What was important was that one of the gods was on the verge of extinction.

Shadraput’s skin, which had been mimicking that of a human, was beginning to regain its copper-like scales. Gradually, her body was transforming into that of a dragon. Her fingers were turning into sharp claws, and the wings growing from her back began to take on a more powerful form.

It had been so long since she had taken on the form of a complete dragon. She had sometimes taken on the form of a flying dragon, but it hadn’t been hundreds of years since she had returned to her former self.

After all, there was no telling when Vrilligant would be resurrected. She had to hide herself.

But there was no need for that anymore. Shadraput’s heart was pounding with immeasurable excitement.

If left alone, Vrilligant would inevitably meet his demise. Shadraput thought that his fate was now decided…and yet.

…She wanted to destroy him in one fell swoop with her own power. Vrilligant was no longer a monster that knew no death. He had fallen from god to mere dragon.

Shadraput, the Copper Queen Dragon, assumed the form of a great dragon and opened her mouth wide.

「Lugis bestowed death upon you. So I shall be the one to bestow destruction upon you. 」

Huge fireballs were fired one after another from her mouth. There was no longer any restraint even though she avoided the area where the familiar magical devilish beings were standing.

She simply burst forth with joy, released after over a thousand years of oppression.

「…Ah, Vrilligant! The dragon race you loved has now perished! They will never rise again! 」
