A Wish To Grab Happiness – Volume 16 – Chapter 519

Chapter 519: Unlock the Original Text

The demonic sword trembled. For the sword, which had become one with its master, the change was all too noticeable.

His master was about to become a complete magical devilish being. He was about to become the center of chaos.

This was different from the Controller Drigman, the Jewel Bar Agathos, or the Giant Caria, who became magical devilish beings because they had an aptitude for demonic nature.

The human race was now possessing the Original Text, attempting to deviate from humanity.

The demonic sword knew that many of these outcomes were devastating.

Those who succumbed to beastly forms, and those who became demons driven by a cursed hatred…even the human hero Alia. Their ends were by no means happy.

Now, his master, Lugis, was about to unlock his Original Text. It was a step towards ruin. The demonic sword hesitated, wondering if it should stop its master.

…In an instant, the demonic sword clicked its blade in mockery.

If the sword truly believed that Lugis should stop here, then it should put up as much resistance as possible. For example, resist with the gears that held his master’s body. That could prevent his body from transforming into a totally magical devilish being.

But the demonic sword had a thought. If his master became a magical devilish being, perhaps the sword could become one more with him.

The demonic sword was made of demonic crystals, from the hilt to the blade. A genuine magical tool carved from the body of the Great Demon Altius.

That meant that, to its human master, it was nothing more than a foreign object. And so, even if its existence was mixed with that of the sword, the day would come when it would be handed over to someone else, just like in that prison.

It absolutely hated that.

However, if his master was also demonic, then it would be a different story. They would remain one and the same until the very end.

And that was exactly why the demonic sword couldn’t stop Lugis from transforming into a fully magical devilish being.

It still wouldn’t stop, even now. The demonic sword knew that this was an ugly, evil emotion. But it was an emotion precisely because it couldn’t be stopped by its own will.

Forgiveness was futile. It would be enough as long as it could be with him until his final moment. Besides, there were limits to what a human could do if Lugis truly wanted to defeat Vriligant. Therefore, he had no choice but to surpass humanity.

Lugis spoke out loud. The Original Text appeared with a heavy lock.

「Original Text, show yourself now…」

And with that, the lock was released. The demonic sword’s blade groaned as it wriggled. And it discovered the Original Text’s true nature. It was very much like his master.

The master considered himself evil. He said he was no hero. Yet, he continued to reach out for it.

This Original Text was the very essence of the master’s yearning for justice and heroism. It was as if that was all he was.

The master’s end was already decided. Surely it wasn’t here.

The demonic sword was transforming. The purple blade grew sharper, and the black hue rippled as if to erode everything in its path. It was no longer a sword, but rather the night itself, overflowing from Lugis’ hand.

Vrilligant roared. The world shook, and the mountainside erupted. Its claws, strong enough to shatter even rock, were swung down at Lugis. The hollow tore apart, opening a path.

It was a simple gesture, like crushing a flying insect. And yet, each swing was a sure kill. Lugis, who still hadn’t relaxed his stance, was merely a target.

But the demonic sword saw silver hair swaying in its field of vision. So it decided there was no problem.

Surely, someone with the blood of a giant couldn’t be defeated so easily by a dragon.

「…Lugis! You…! 」

The silver-haired giant slashed the giant dragon claw. It wasn’t even a stance. It was just a swinging blow. But the giant’s physical strength was devastating enough on its own.

For a moment, Vrilligant’s hand wavered. The demonic sword knew that Lugis had a smile on his face.

「As expected of you, Caria. And it’s a good time. It’s already night. The sunlight is falling to the earth. 」

Lugis swung his demonic sword shrouded in the night. It felt as if the entire space had become its own.

It’s my turn, Lugis muttered casually to Vrilligant, and unsealed the Original Text.

「…Unlock the Original Text, “Primordial Evil”. 」

The one professing those words was someone who yearned for heroes, who had killed heroes, and yet still reached out for them.

The Jewel Bar Agathos continued walking, following the familiar scent. Memories of the past flashed back into her mind every time the scent brushed her nose, and she felt sick.

After all, it wasn’t just her fellow countryman, Drigman, that she remembered.

The memory of the day she was called “Half-Blood Barbarian Princess” was running through Agathos’ mind.

Agathos wasn’t a pure demon. She was a hybrid of the demon Logom, born from rock, and a member of the fairy tribe.

To demonic beings, who separated into tribes and crowned kings, being half-blood was a complete heresy. Especially in Agathos’ time, where there was still little interaction between tribes.

Her parents threw Agathos off a cliff and abandoned her. Even after surviving, she was unable to belong to any tribe and ended up wandering the world alone.

She had come close to death many times, so despair seemed inevitable. Neither a Logom nor a fairy. So what was she? She asked herself over and over again.

Agathos laughed away the hesitation she had once agonized over. She was the supreme jewel, uniquely magnificent. She couldn’t be anything else.

Suddenly, she opened her eyes. The dragon’s insides, which had previously been invisible, were slowly beginning to take shape. Sometimes they resembled a rocky mountain, and sometimes a dragon’s nest, so much so that she wondered if this was really inside the dragon’s body.

Ah, so perhaps this was what dragons were like. Or perhaps Vrilligant was abnormal. Just as Agathos was beginning to feel this way…

…A stronger, nostalgic smell hit her nostrils. A treasure trove filled with vast amounts of gold, crowns, and all kinds of valuables.

And there she was.

Filaret La Volgograd. The sorceress, and the one Agathos and Leu were searching for.

Her beautiful black hair looked like waves, and she slept on a bed of gold, silver, and other treasures. It was as if someone had placed her there purposely since she was extremely important. Perhaps the fact that the treasure vault was visible was a symbol of this.

Agathos swallowed a deep sigh as she approached Filaret and touched her cheek with her fingers. Filaret seemed a little thinner as Agathos was seeing her for the first time in so long.

At the same time, Agathos noticed that Filaret’s magical meridians were now similar to those of a demon. She closed her eyes tightly.

Filaret had always had a good affinity with magical powers; one could even say it was too good. It was possible for magical meridians to undergo partial transformations. But she had never heard of one being reshaped so quickly.

It was clear what had happened to her, and what price she had paid.

Agathos sighed.

「They’re all so stupid. Every single one of them. There are so many simpler ways to live. They just keep turning left and right and keep getting lost. I can’t stand watching. 」

Agathos’ feet wobbled, and she collapsed onto Filaret’s body. Agathos was already close to her limit. It was a miracle that she was still alive in this space, where simply walking could sap both magical power and physical strength.

But her work wasn’t finished. With trembling hands, Agathos pulled out the cloth bag that Filaret had tucked away in her chest.

「…I know you want to rely on him, but I need you to rely on me now. I’ll borrow it for just a moment, Filaret. Don’t worry, I’ll get you back to safety. 」

Agathos gripped the cloth bag, transforming it into a jewel and absorbing it into her body.

It was likely a magical crystal of the fairy tribe. It wasn’t of any use, but it was imbued with a mystical power that could suppress magical powers. It might be a talisman to counter sorcerers.

Agathos was half-fairy. Her throat felt slightly moistened as she absorbed magical power.

「I’m sorry I’m not who you want me to be, but I’ll be the one to wake you up, Filaret. Listen, you’re not going to sleep forever, are you? …C’mon, wake up and destroy Vrilligant. 」

Filaret was now Vrilligant’s heart. Agathos knew she wouldn’t wake up just by talking to her. So, she had no choice but to force her awake.

Agathos intertwined her arms around Filaret’s body and declared.

「It’s my turn, Vrilligant. I’ll avenge Filaret and the child…unlock the Original Text, “may eternal brilliance be in my hands”. 」

The jewels dancing around Agathos stopped moving suddenly. And light filled the darkness.
