A Wish To Grab Happiness – Volume 16 – Chapter 507

Chapter 507: The Arrival after the Setting Sun

The walled city of Garoua Maria was on the eastern edge of the Heraldic Order’s territory. This city, which saw off the combined forces of the Bolvat Dynasty and Lugis, was now welcoming a new army.

The Heraldic Order army, in other words, the main army of the New Gharast Kingdom. With an illegitimate princess as its commander in chief, the army’s majesty was truly impressive.

The Heraldic soldiers, who once bore the poverty and harshness of the previous campaigns, were now fully equipped and lacked nothing. Having absorbed the former Gharast army led by the veteran general Richard, the quality of their troops had reached the level of a country’s army.

With more than 20,000 soldiers, the army continued to march forward. Their goal was clear.

The Bolvat Dynasty, where the hero Lugis went to, was the only way forward.

「Like hungry hounds…right? It’s not like the rumors say. They’re well controlled. 」

Watching Princess Philos’ march in black military uniform from the second floor of the inn, the man wrote down what he saw on a piece of parchment. Having stayed in Garoua Maria, the trading city, for a long time, he was much more perceptive to information than people from other cities.

Princess Philos had shown her intention to march to Bolvat Dynasty, but the rumors said that she lacked leadership.

But in reality, that was not the case. She was looking straight ahead, her nose twitching, like a fierce warrior itching to fight.

The beautiful woman riding next to her was probably Saint Matia, and the one leading the vanguard army was probably the veteran Richard.

The march was fierce, but also spectacular. It even seemed to be packed with sophistication.

The man, Belnagrad, ran ink across the parchment, trying not to miss even a single glimpse of this heroic sight.

After all, money was always an issue. This kind of information and article could sell well to the citizens. Garoua Maria in particular had many Heraldic followers. An article about their saint would surely fetch a good price.

As Belnagrad continued writing his article, he looked down at the army advancing along the road. The army numbered more than 20,000. The current New Gharast Kingdom must be working very hard.

Belnagrad didn’t know what the point of sending an army so far out in the death snow was. But what fell into his heart wasn’t a question, but a thought.

「…I’m jealous. 」

He blurted out an unconscious voice that no one could hear.

How wonderful it would be to fight as a heroic soldier and die bathed in glory. They could do that. Belnagrad knew very well that he couldn’t.

What would happen if he returned to the Gharast army after being kicked out once? He wouldn’t start over as a recruit.

He wondered what it must be like to be a hero, in the eyes of those brave soldiers. Belnagrad sighed and wrote down his article.

Thus, Princess Philos’ first personal expedition of the New Gharast Kingdom would be recorded. It detailed her behavior, but her supposed purpose was completely different.

She had only one goal.

Not the fall of the Bolvat Dynasty…only the rescue of the hero Lugis. It was that will alone that drove the 20,000-strong army.

However, there was no one to record that will. It was believed to be a great expedition based on a just cause, not an expedition driven by personal ambition.

No one other than Saint Matia noticed that Philos was smiling.

The sunlight wavered and sobbed sadly. The horizon was warped and distorted. It was a sign of the sun’s fall.

Rabel looked down at the scene from Mount Bephimus near the capital. Her eyes were shining. To be honest, it was Rabel’s way of showing her agitation.

One could even call it amazement. Such sight was so shocking to her.

Rabel had also thought that Junelva could suffer a tremendous defeat. After all, the magical devilish being Lugis had turned against her, and above all, he had a powerful demonic sword.

Was he cornered, or would was he slashed to death?

It didn’t matter what happened since Junelva got defeated.

「…It seems that things that even we cannot phantom happen between this heaven and this earth. 」

Below, the sun was disappearing.

It was the remains of the tiny world that Junelva had created, using the Original Text. In that world, he undoubtedly had regained his authority as a god.

Junelva once again reigned as the sun god even if it was only for a short time.

…But he died. This sunset was the proof of his death. Who, and how?

Rabel’s doll-like eyes were covered by hard eyelids for a moment, then opened wide. A confusion disappeared from her in that brief moment.

It was certainly an unexpected turn of events. But the result was the same. Whether a large number of humans were crushed or the hearts of disaster-like magical devilish beings were broken.

Either way, the concentration of magical power in the air was sufficient. No, if anything, the collapse of Junelva’s tiny world exuded a rich, almost intoxicating taste from the air.

That was enough. Rabel could see that the human soldiers had begun their march towards the royal palace. It was too late for them.

It was all over.

The sorceress she held in her arms was asleep, but she could see that her eyes were about to open. Her fingertips seemed to be pulsating slightly. Rabel gently held her head and stared at her expression.

Filaret La Volgograd. The black-haired sorceress could no longer be called human. Her body was now pure magical power itself.

Once could say that all human elements had been stripped away, down to the smallest detail, from blood vessels, organs, to nerves. Rabel knew that this was all thanks to Lugis having become a magical devilish being.

Whether it was the magical power needed to make her the heart or something else, Filaret La Volgograd never rejected anything Rabel poured into her. Rather, it was as if she was accepting her fate.

She probably didn’t mind if her body deviated from that of a human as a result.

Indeed, her spirit and soul should’ve worn out and crumbled by now. But it was impressive that she had rejected everything but herself.

Rabel stood before the enormous dragon, holding Filaret in her arms.

Its size was so great that one would have to fly in the sky to get a full view of it.

This was an undeniable king who once stood shoulder to shoulder with the Giant King and the Spirit King. It once looked down upon all races as a Great Demon.

The Great Demon Vrilligant.

His power was still strong even though he had been defeated by the human hero Altia and his heart had been shattered. The history of the world would easily change if he just opened his eyes.

And so, he was ready to awaken. Though Junelva had been defeated, his ambition had been fulfilled. No, with his own death, he had manifested his own king.

「Now, here is your beating heart. Great magical power in the air. The chains that bound you are broken. 」

It was like a chant for something to awaken.

In an instant, several gears appeared around Rabel. They engaged with each other, making a loud clanging sound, and began to move.

It was as if Rabel was saying that this movement was her duty. It was hideous but also seemed like a noble ritual.

Rabel opened her arms wide. There was no need to support Filaret anymore. The sound of gears rang out.

「This world is a myth. Many myths were lost, and the spirited myths that bound them together became the myths of dragons and giants, and now the myths of humanity are here. 」

As if responding to the chant, the great demonic body that had gained a heart began to pulsate for the first time in a long time. Every heartbeat frightened the sky, and the earth cried out with the movement of each scale.

Clang, clang, clang.

The gears made a constant noise. No, it had been ringing like this since the day the world began.

「…But all of that is an imitation. The original myth is here. Fate is born here according to the myth. I am the one who carries the righteous destiny. 」

Rabel’s silky long hair swayed in the air. A strong demonic presence even made one feel nauseous. Rabel opened her arms and whispered as if she had spoken before.

…The Original Text was unlocked.

The bearer of the myth of humanity had not yet gained a body; the myth of giants was entrusted to a small giant; and the myth of the spirits was wreaking havoc, threatening to devour the earth.

And today, another myth opened its eyes.

  1. Nooooo… Filaret!!
On another note… I still don’t get what Philos’ feelings toward Lugis are, but if she also wants him for herself she might have become one of the strongest contenders, not as an individual though. The danger increased once more!
    Thanks for the chapter.
