A Wish To Grab Happiness – Volume 15 – Chapter 436

Chapter 436: One End and One Beginning

Above the Gharast Kingdom.

The magical devilish being, Jewel Bar Agathos, fidgeted as she looked down at the human people. With her body supported by floating jewels, Agathos yawned as if relaxed.

What was ahead of her sight were human activities. She could only see insects moving in the distance. Yet, she could tell what they were doing. The restoration work of the royal capital was carried out day and night.

Agathos rolled her eyes, thinking that those humans never got tired of it.

The royal capital, which was burnt to the ground due to the conflict with the magical devilish being Drigman, was now finally showing signs of gradual recovery thanks to the help of humans.

Every day, humans went to designated places to build houses and churches. Why did they keep repeating the same things over and over again? Agathos was truly bewildered.

Those humans hadn’t lost their spirit, though they had lost their former glory. In fact, it was precisely because of that loss that humans mustered all their strength to stand up again.

However, a catalyst was needed so that they could have that attitude.

Agathos thought it was probably because of their influence. Those women who always stood in front of the public and moved around as if they had forgotten to eat or sleep.

Matia, the Heraldic Saint, and the illegitimate Princess who acted as the ruler of the royal capital. With those two as banners, the royal capital of the Gharast Kingdom was now trying to regain its brilliance once again.

Agathos tilted her head, thinking that she didn’t really understand humans.

What was the meaning of such a thing? What was once broken was destined to be broken again. No matter how much effort they put into rebuilding the royal capital, it would be destroyed overnight if a magical devilish being showed up again.

Of course, Agathos was one of those demonic beings. She could turn this city into a beautiful jewel once her lost magical power got restored.

If she did that, Leu, her host, would probably change her mind. Moreover, Agathos knew that many demonic beings other than herself had already begun to awaken.

There were some who were even more cruel than Agathos. Those like Drigman and Agathos were mild.

Considering that humans could become their captives, Agathos thought that humans would be much happier if they were with her as her own jewels.

While thinking about this, Agathos suddenly looked directly below herself. Below her, as usual, stood the woman with black hair. She was shouting something.

Agathos shook her white hair again.

Perhaps that woman had learned the trick of flying through the sky with magical power. Her voice gradually began to approach Agathos’ ears. In her heart, Leu called out Agathos’ name. Agathos knew what she wanted to say without being told.

Agathos took a deep breath and lowered her altitude to pick up the woman with black hair. When she held this woman’s body floating in the air, Agathos saw her dark eyes and realized that she was slightly out of breath.

「Hey, you! How long are you going to stay here? You promised me to let the child rest for a while. 」

Agathos sort of knew what she was going to say. She distorted her lips and replied.

「Listen, I’ve told you many times. I’m a jewel. Aren’t you guys the ones that call me a magical devilish being? I don’t get tired, nor will I die from something like this. It’s magical power. Eating can be a hobby as long as you’re keen on it. My skills are different from the likes of you who are weak. Do you understand? 」

Even if Leu’s physique was that of a human, her insides had been transformed into something completely different. When strong and weak mixed together, the weak would naturally succumb to the strong.

Magical power would be meaningless if Leu’s skin was not strong enough to withstand the sharpness of a sword. If would be possible for Agathos to become a complete demonic being if she left Leu’s soul behind.

Filaret was about to say something to Agathos when she said that food and rest were unnecessary.

On this very moment, Agathos opened her eyes wide. With that, she naturally held onto Filaret’s hand tightly. She could feel her own saliva creeping up from her throat.

There was a very, very unpleasant wind.

…Agathos’ soul felt a disgusting roar. What she imagined beyond her eyelids was the great demon Vrilligant, the personification of destruction.

It was the sound of that being waking up that Agathos least wanted to remember. Of course, she knew that this moment would come someday deep in her heart.

After all, even the former spirit god Zebrililith was now on this earth once again. In that case, it wouldn’t be strange if Vrilligant, who once called himself the god of the sky, opened his eyes again.

Perhaps the poisonous substances that served him had also been revived. Agathos thought as something cold touched her forehead.

This was no good.

Vrilligant and the demonic beings under his command were clearly hostile to humans. They would eat humans more aggressively, kill them, and thus destroy them.

Vrilligant and Zebrililith. And the demonic beings with them. Human nations wouldn’t last now that they had manifested themselves. Just like happened in the past, if things continued as they were, time would come when the ruler of the continent would be a demon.

However, Agathos didn’t understand why that woman…Altia, the hero of humanity, allowed this occurrence. That woman was probably the one who was controlling that demonic nature and holding onto its roots. Both Zebrililith and Vrilligant’s souls were being held by Altia’s hands.

What happened? Why was she doing such a thing?

As far as Agathos knew, Altia had once, along with her allies, crushed the demons worthy of Agathos’ rank. Although Altia spilled blood and sobbed many times, she definitely fought to save humanity from demons. She fought bravely for the sake of humanity’s dignity and freedom. That’s why she became a human myth.

Why would that woman unleash the demons and evil gods that were once her enemies? Agathos couldn’t find the answer.

In a sense, the magical devilish being named Agathos was hopelessly pure. Her essence was basically the following: pick what you love and crush what you hate.

There was no taint on her essence, just as there wasn’t a single drop of dirt on her beautiful jewels. Because of this, she wasn’t able to understand the dual nature of others, both now and in the past.

Agathos looked at Filaret. Suddenly, something occurred to her mind.

「…Filaret. Come to think of it, where did he go? Your mate, I mean. He’s the current human hero, isn’t he? I’d like to hear what kind of thinking a human hero has. 」

Mate. For a moment, Filaret looked like she didn’t understand what she meant.

But after a moment, Filaret’s eyes widened, and her cheeks turned a little pink. Agathos wondered what was upsetting Filaret. Perhaps, he was no longer her mate.

Agathos twisted her lips since she didn’t understand the complexities of human emotions.

The puppet city of Philos was located south of the Gharast Kingdom’s royal capital Arche.

The rebellion led by the elder Saleino, and his allies, was met with complete silence. Saleino, who was supposed to be a pillar of the Order’s foundation, died, and Lugis and Caria returned to the city of Philos. The rebel army’s surprise attack lost its advantage due to Largud Ann’s maneuvers.

There was no longer enough strength or will for the rebel army to resist. History now told that the rebellion that had reached the throat of the city of Philos had been suppressed.

However, for those living today, there was no way that its defeat would solve everything else. There were issues like the disposal of the main forces of the rebel army, the handling of those soldiers, and the reorganization of the Order’s future structure. There were many issues to be dealt with within the Heraldic Order. Some said the real war was the aftermath.

Perhaps this occurrence was also part of the post-processing course. Largud Ann felt the tension in her cheeks as she quietly turned her eyes to the one next to her.

Her cheeks twitched as Lugis turned his face away to avoid her gaze.

「Lord Hero…? I’m glad you came to help me, but…what is this…? 」

It couldn’t be helped that Ann’s words were filled with a sense of restraint. No, in fact, it was probably because she didn’t use direct words. Ann suppressed her trembling lips as she faced the situation again.

They were standing in front of the castle gates of the city of Philos, making the people there dumbfounded.

One wielded a large dark scarlet sword while exuding an enormous murderous intent that distorted space, while the other showed its magnificent armor without wavering.

Caria was the Hero’s shield, and Telsarat Rwana was Elizard’s distinguished fighter. These women, who possessed unparalleled military power, were confronting each other with murderous intent for some reason.

Actually, Ann knew why.

Ann persuaded her enemy’s camp and returned to the city of Philos. Lugis came to meet her when she arrived.

Ann thought that Lugis had rushed over so quickly because he didn’t trust Ann’s capabilities. Still, Ann didn’t feel too bitter about it. Didn’t that mean that Lord Hero was somehow worried about her life? That’s why he greeted her in a hurry.

Maybe, yes. The fact that Lord Hero rarely showed such concern was surely the first sign.

Seeing Lugis, Ann felt relieved for a moment and let out a deep breath. She could feel the tension loosening easily.

However, in the middle of that moment, Telsarat called Lugis’ name. She spoke in a way that seemed to show respect. And just like that, she hugged him with her whole body.

Naturally, by Lugis’ side was Caria, who could be called a both a shield and a knife.

Ann didn’t want to remember what happened after that.

Ann continued to stare at those women and Lugis as if trying to ask questions. Then, Lugis said as if he had figured it out.

「…Yes, I know. It’s my fault. I know. 」

Ann nodded in satisfaction as Lugis took a deep breath. Even though they had risked their lives, they were now having a carefree encounter.

It was okay to be a little bit mean. Ann loosened her lips and relaxed her cheeks.
